About Us

Active Ski Expeditions is a specialist company that facilitates Group, Family or School ski trips to the Oberallgäu region of Bavaria, Germany.

Active Ski Expeditions is a specialist company that facilitates Group, Family or School ski trips to the Oberallgäu region of Bavaria, Germany. We offer bespoke or standard packages aiming to give a “hassle free, one stop shop” for group organisers or School Teachers.

Although a newly formed company, the staff behind Active Ski Expeditions have over forty years of planning, executing and teaching on group or School ski trips.

Active Ski Expeditions uses a three star apart-hotel for its premier School ski trips and families packages and  Bavarian lodges for the standard School ski trips, packages and courses.

The Oberallgäu region of Bavaria, southwest of Munich, is a hidden gem of the skiing world. It is based around Sonthoffen and Oberstdorf towns. We can boast of over 220 lifts and 550 kilometres of piste to choose from. We can offer a different ski area almost every day.

The area is also known for other interesting facts:

Oberstdorf holds many of the FIS Ski Jumping and Ski Flying competitions, many of which are televised.

The British Military use the area to run alpine Adventurous Training Courses for their troops.

Remember the bike scene in “The Great Escape” as Steve McQueen tries to jump the border into Switzerland.  Well that was filmed in the area with the Grünten mountain visible in the background.

Munich is a two-hour coach trip away and famous for many things including the Oktoberfest beer festival and several museums. It is possible to arrange a day trip to Munich for the whole group.

Within an hour’s drive is Schloss Neuschwanstein, Ludwigs II castle made famous by Chitty Chitty Bang Bang film and also taken on by Walt Disney as Disney Studio’s Logo. It is possible for the whole group to visit this castle and do the English tour instead of skiing for the day.

On the outskirts of Munich is the Dachau concentration camp museum which can be visited in conjunction with a visit to Schloss Neuschwanstein. A very educational but thought provoking day out.
